Rasim Gjoka is one of the co-founders and Executive Director of the Albanian Foundation for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation of Disputes (AFCR), a civil society organization established in 1995, and focused on the promotion and development of ADR/Mediation in Albania. AFCR is one of the Qualifying Assessment Programs of the International Mediation Institute.

Rasim is a sociologist by profession and at the same time lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tirana University. He is an accredited mediator from the National Commission for Accreditation of Mediators, Ministry of Justice. He has attended several international trainings in conflict management, ADR, mediation, etc.

As a leader of AFCR his role has been crucial in running different components of ADR and mediation: developing and implementing the mediation alternative in Albania; running promotion campaigns, contributing to the development of the legal framework for mediation, establishing mediation centers etc; implementing many innovative programs in Albania, such as restorative programs for juveniles, ADR/court-connected mediation programs, etc; providing expertise in conducting several trainings for new and existing mediators, and also for other interested parties, like judges, prosecutors, local government specialists, teachers etc. He is author and co-author of several sociological researches, evaluations, magazine articles, surveys, and training manuals. Rasim is a member of the European Forum for Restorative Justice since its establishment in 1999, and member of the Peace Collaborative Network, member of the Access Facility. He is active as well as in some networks in the area of conflict resolution, mediation and peace education in Albania and in the region.

From July 2013 Rasim has been involved as consultant / mediator / facilitator by the Compliance, Advisor, and Ombudsman (CAO), the recourse mechanism of the World Bank Group for IFC and MIGA, in the management of the company-company disputes in Albania.
